Educational Toy & Book

61 Pre-schools benefit from a wide range of educational toys and books. These are rotated on a monthly basis between the schools so that the children have continued access to different learning skills through active play.

At each visit the Librarians run Drama to Music workshops which is an amazing programme teaching both Literacy, Numeracy and Life Skills.

Playgroup Programme

In the last 5 years to date we have established 329 Play groups in our rural areas. The Play group programme aims at ensuring that Early Childhood Development stimulation is accessible to young children who for some other reason be it financial, proximity as well as social issues can not access ECD services. Early stimulation in our Playgroups include: mathematics, communication, science as well as life skills.

Parenting Programme

We offer parenting programme to community members to equip them with positive parenting skills which include:

Family Relations, Health, Nutrition, Child Safety & Protection, Positive Discipline & Grief & Bereavement.

This builds Confidence and Physical, Social and Emotional Development through Creative Play, which includes Intellectual & Language Stimulation.

Home Reading Programme

Reading in the early years helps with language growth, early literacy and reading achievement in the formal school years.

We visit selected homes to read out loud with young disadvantaged children and engage primary caregivers in the reading process to ensure that reading continues.

Workshops

Theme based monthly workshops are conducted and these addresses all Early Learning Developmental Areas. Each workshop covers several topics including creativity projects (making improvised educational resources) songs, rhymes, basic child development and monthly lesson plans.

Monitoring and Evaluation

All our programmes are constantly and continuously assessed, monitored and evaluate to ensure relevance, implementation and support. We have 3 trained Early Learning Outcome Measures assessors who conduct quarterly assessments of our multifaceted programmes. This assessment is crucial as it advises on impact of our programmes or lack thereof so that responsive measures are implemented to ensure that we deliver programmes of excellence.

Our exciting future

We are glad to announce our 2020 new venture to the rural area of Sabi Sand Wildtuin; with immediate focus on Utah and Dixie communities which forms part of the Northern cluster. These communities are less privileged with very little exposure to adequate and up to date ECD services.
